WHY YOU SHOULD NOT PRESSURE WASH YOUR HOME

house+with+streaks+on+vinyl+siding

A lot of homeowners are under the impression that they should be pressure washing their home, but you might be surprised to find out that pressure washing your home might not be the best idea. This picture demonstrates damage on the side of a home caused by high amounts of water pressure.

OXIDATION

Oxidation is a chemical reaction that can occur on the outside of your home from prolonged periods of UV exposure from sunlight. To check for this, you would simply run your finger across the house and if you have a white chalky substance on your hand, you have oxidation. If this is the case, you want to make sure you get the home cleaned without disturbing the oxidation. Using high pressure can also cause oxidation or damage.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF SOFT WASHING?

Instead of using thousands of pounds of pressure we use around 100 PSI to clean your home. We start off by rinsing the home down really good to get it wet and then we apply a mixture of surfactant and sodium hypochlorite which is the exact chemical used in bleach. The surfactant is a commercial grade soap that will help break the surface tension allowing the bleach to stick to the side of the home longer. This will grab all the dirt, grime, mildew, algae, mold and anything else you have on there and melt it away. Once applying the right amount of solution, we then rinse it away with very low pressure leaving your home looking fresh, clean and most importantly disinfected.

Mixing sodium hypochlorite can be very dangerous and that’s why we take extreme precaution when spraying this onto your home. It is very good at disinfecting, but it will kill grass and plants and that’s why before we do anything we water everything down to the point to where the plants and grass stop taking in water. We do this before, during and after the job is complete to ensure that there is a very low chance of plants or grass dying. We also do other things such as taping up outlets, lights, cameras and anything else that can be damaged by chemicals.
